My Blog is Carbon Neutral

“My blog is carbon neutral” is an initiative, originally started in Germany, by the “Make it Green” program. Its goal is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. "Make it Green" plants a tree for participating blogs which can neutralize the blog’s carbon footprint for the next 50 years! Everyone can make a small contribution to the environment. Every tree counts! For more information about how and where the trees are planted, go here.

Renegade Craft Fair: Brooklyn

I managed to drag the Husband and the Kid to the Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn this weekend. They're both super into crafts (uh, no, not really). Anyway, I was really impressed with the artists. Some of my favorites: HERO Design of Buffalo (who made the brilliant Brooklyn poster above), DOLL by Mimi Kirchner of Boston (creator of the awesome "Tattoo girl" pictured above ), Black Spot Books (amazing handmade leather-bound books, one that caught my eye contained a very small, very old photo embedded in the cover) and Forestbound a bag-maker who uses found and salvaged materials. The Husband's two favorites: Campfire Goods Inc. and Mean Cards. Campfire Goods designs and hand prints t-shirts with funny stuff about your city or state. Mean Cards are just hilarious. Check them out!

The World Beard and Moustache Championships

The World Beard and Moustache Championships 2007 held in Brighton England, photographed by Luke Stephenson.

The World Beard and Moustache Championships 2009 held in Anchorage, Alaska, photographed by Dave Mead.

I've been a huge fan of Luke Stephenson for sometime and own one of his 20x200 Budgies portraits. He has an awesome sense of humor and has photographed, among other things, the World Beard and Moustache Championships in 2007. Yesterday, I was in the Chelsea Market and came across Dave Mead's take on the same event. How funny to see this face again! Dave Mead's photos are displayed in ornate frames throughout Chelsea Market. He also has a "photobooth": a frame with a moustache suspended by wires inside. I must have seen a dozen people poke their heads in and snap away in just a few moments of being there.

Memorial Day Weekend

I hope you had a lovely weekend. I spent it with good friends, good food and chasing after my little boy. And I finally got to meet my friend's new baby! He is lovely.
