New Project: Old Camera: The Canon T70

These were taken with a Canon T70, which I was given for free on Friday when it looked like there was so much corrosion that the camera was inoperable. A little screwdriver action, some rubbing alcohol and new batteries seemed to do the trick. I took these on a 12 mile run on Saturday. Even though this isn't a camera I already had, I'm putting it in the New Project: Old Cameras series. It's a fun little camera to play around with.

My dad had a T70 when I was a kid. I thought it was the greatest camera ever made. It played a big part in inspiring me to pursue photograpy as a career.

Nice work.

Hey, thank you so much! It's a fun little camera and I'm enjoying it . . . I love hearing that your father had one. Apparently my mother had a really nice Leica when she was in her 20s but it was long gone before I came around! I have her father's camera which I am going to try one of these days.

Oddly, I never came across on of these. I didn't realize it was an SLR.

Funny looking camera/awesome looking photos! What film did you use?

RA - I'd never heard of it before either! Bria - It's Kodak BW400CN, a black and white film that can be processed in a color lab - first time using it. I'm normally a Tri-X shooter.

my grandpops had a Leica and a Roleiflex in the 30s and 40s.

in ye olde film schyool days, I shot on Tri-X B&W, and made my student films using Tri-X B&W reversal (there was no negative, just a one-time chance to edi, so if you fecked up, you were SOL)

that'd be "edit"

Alex: That's funny - I never really thought about that before: motion picture film has no negative. I'm going to be using my hand crank 8 mm here soon . . . There's a great place out in Seattle that sells the film for it: http://www.seattlemotionpicture.com/site/Home.html
